Everett Keyser visually expresses ideas that his partners know in their minds, feel in their hearts, and want to rise above the noise. In the last 25 years he’s created countless logos, environmental graphics for 100+ exhibitions and events, dozens of publications, branding for large to small organizations, and a multitude of print and digital marketing materials.
Keyser earned his BFA from the College for Creative Studies in 2000 and continued as a freelance graphic designer until 2003. He was then recruited to be the first staff graphic designer at MotorCity Casino & Hotel. In 2007, he traded the frenzied energy of the casino for the subtlety and finesse of the Detroit Institute of Arts.
At the Detroit Institute of Arts, he’s designed publications and exhibition graphics for myriad artists—some historical icons (Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Bruegel, Monet) and some contemporary stars (Patti Smith, Ruben and Isabel Toledo, Shirin Neshat). The projects he is proudest of feature artists (Kelly Church, Jenny Risher, Tylon Sawyer) and collections representative of communities the museum has historically underserved.
The call to service continues in Keyser’s personal life. He serves as Co-Chair on the Detroit chapter of the SEGD, and as Events and Programming Chair on the board of the Detroit chapter of the AIGA. A former boy scout himself, Keyser has held leadership roles for over 10 years with BSA Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops. His two cats and dog prefer that he limit his service to bowls of kibble and multiple daily walks.
